Music Scholarship Opportunity – Posted 2/7/22
PINC Guidelines 2022

Many scholarship opportunities are available through the Lincoln Community Foundation including the following:

  • The PINC Scholarship (1 - $3000 minimum award) was created to provide substantial assistance for a talented student (senior or former graduate, including homeschooled) involved in any fields in the Arts. It is the donor's hope that this award will be received by someone who has been directly affected by poverty who could not otherwise attend college but who would benefit from specialized study in their chosen art or music field.

Please see attached documents for specifics.

Students may find information about our scholarships by using this link: https://lcf.academicworks.com/

Using the link above students will create an account by supplying an email and password. If they accessed the system in previous years, they may simply Sign In with their username and password. Once logged in, applicants will have access to the online general application form. A current transcript and the first page of the FAFSA report with the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) value are required for all applications.

Based on information provided in the submitted general application, students are automatically matched to scholarships for which they are fully eligible. Students will see these “auto-matched” scholarships on their account's “My Applications” tab.

There are also scholarships which require additional information beyond the general application. After the general application is submitted, additional scholarships can be seen on the account’s “Recommended Opportunities” tab. Please read the information and criteria carefully to determine if you are eligible for these. "Recommended" does not mean that you are necessarily eligible. To apply, students must click on the individual “Apply To” buttons to finish and submit. These opportunities may require references, answers to additional questions, special essays, or other documentation. When you click on the "Apply To" button of an opportunity you will see additional fields to answer questions, upload documents and/or fill in the names and email addresses of your references. References will automatically receive a link to fill a reference form directly within the system. It is important to note that the deadline for references is the same as that of the application. It is also very important to apply well enough ahead of the deadline to allow references to respond! After submitting, these applications will also appear on the “My Applications” tab.

The application deadline for most scholarships is March 15, 2022.

If you have any questions regarding our application process or about our scholarships in general, please contact me at [email protected] or (402) 474-2345.

Thank you for your assistance in sharing this information with your students and their families!

Cornhusker Boys' State – Posted 2/7/22
Boys' State Trifold 2022
PLV Boys' State Application

Home School Families,

If your son is a Junior this year he is eligible to attend the
2022 Boys State program which will be held 5-11 June '22.  The location
for the event is the UNL campus in Lincoln.  Please review the attached
brochure and application form.  The cost of this week long, on campus,
event is $375.  Harry Bossard American Legion Post 32 will sponsor four
candidates from applications received from Papillion-LaVista and
Papillion South High Schools. To this pool I will add home school
candidates.  A selection panel will interview candidates from these two
schools and home school candidates that are in the general area of these
schools.  The tentative date is 25 Feb for the interview.  Some home
school candidates may live closer to another American Legion Post.  If
that is the case please contact that post for Boys State selection
consideration.  Each post usually sponsors Boys State candidates. Please
send me your completed application before 25 Feb so I know how many
applications to expect.

Usually we have more worthy candidates than we have funds to sponsor
the candidates.  If that situation happens the family, or other
organization, can sponsor the candidate and cover the $375 cost.  An
American Legion Post must endorse the applicant. Applications must be
sponsored, endorsed, and mailed with a $375 check to Cornhusker Boys
State, PO Box 5205, Lincoln, NE, 68505 before 15 March.

Please contact me if you have questions: [email protected]

Dudley Allen, American Legion Post 32, Boys State Selection Committee
Chairman,  402-321-3592
