Good News is looking for teens and moms/dads who are solid in their Christian faith, dependable, and trustworthy with kids to invest into the lives of young kids during the MOPS group (Moms of Preschool Kids). Who better for this than homeschool families who are dedicated to raising their own kids in the fear of the LORD?
Good News Church, formerly Glad Tidings Assembly of God, is hosting our second annual MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group! This is a group to provide community, resources, and fun to moms who are in an exciting but challenging season: raising preschoolers! The Group is also ministering to moms whose kids are now in elementary but want to continue with the community.
In addition to ministering to Moms, Good News is in a position to minister to their children concurrently. We provide onsite kids ministry for kids newborn through elementary during the group. This is not merely childcare where kids are in a safe and loving environment where they get to play games and watch movies so their moms can have a needed break. That is the bare minimum of what we offer moms and kids who attend this group.
This is full-on ministry, with worship, Bible stories, games, and crafts based on the Bible story to help kids learn about the God who loves them on a level they can understand. This is an added opportunity in addition to Sunday services to plant the truth of God’s Word deep into the hearts of kids who are in a stage to be receptive to it. As you all know from teaching your own kids, repetition is the key to learning. So, the more often kids can hear Bible stories from loving mentors, the more likely they will internalize it and live it out for the rest of their lives.
Here are the details:
Pay:This is a paid position, classified as a casual employee. The rate is $12.00 per hour for mentors 14 and older. Due to state law, we cannot hire and pay anyone younger than the age of 14. If you have kids who aren’t 14 yet but want to help you as you mentor or need to come along, that is totally fine. All help is greatly appreciated.
Where: Good News Church 7415 Hickory St. Omaha, NE 68124
When: 9:15AM-11:45AM, 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, starting September 12th through May. Don’t feel like you need to commit to the whole year. Whatever you are able and willing to commit to will be awesome.

Process: Interested parties 1) Contact Jacob Lien & will fill out a Ministry Team Application (attached) 2) 1st interview with Jacob 3) 2nd Interview with the Kids Pastor, Isaiah Fern 4) At this point, the hiring decision will be made and employment paperwork will be completed. .
