My name is Larry Beer and I am an education services specialist and Army education liaison based out of Denver, CO. I am reaching out to let you know about a potential opportunity to experience the Army in a way most people are unable to do. Every year, the US Army offers a group of folks who work in secondary and postsecondary education the opportunity to tour an Army installation, to visit many of its units and people, to see all the many diverse jobs the Army offers, and often to demystify the Army and military service, in general.
Many in our society do not have experience in the military or know someone well who has served. Because of this, many may only know the military through movies, video games, media, and TV shows. The US Army is reaching out to leaders within homeschool organizations to see if there is interest in participating in an Army Educator Tour. The tour will be hosted by Major General Kevin Vereen, Commander of US Army Recruiting Command. The tour is scheduled to take place June 1-4, 2021, at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. For those who are selected and need to fly to Colorado Springs, the Army will take care of flight arrangements and will reimburse baggage fees and airport parking. Selected attendees are also paid per diem to help cover personal expenses like meals and incidentals. Hotel rooms will also be paid for by the Army at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 1775 Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. There may also be an opportunity, weather permitting, to do a tandem jump with the US Army's Golden Knights. Yes, the opportunity to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft... This certainly is not a requirement for the tour, but for thrill-seekers and bucket-listers (like myself), this may be a fun and unique experience.
