Parents may choose to incorporate other schools into the exempt school program of instruction for a variety of reasons.  They may make this decision based solely on the needs of their child or their decision may be influenced by other factors.

Here are some possible reasons:

• Parents lack confidence in their ability to meet their child’s needs
• Parents are uncertain on how to teach a specific subject (or possibly homeschool through high school)
• Parents may not be aware of alternatives or how to access resources
• Family may be experiencing financial limitations and are seeking low-cost/no-cost options
• Family may not be aware of financial support resources for homeschooling
• Student desires a unique course offering
• Student desires access to sports or competitive activities (and are constrained by state rules)
• Parents desire a "brick & mortar” school experience for their child
• Etc.
