Dear High School Administrator and Educators:

Throughout 2016, Attorney General Doug Peterson enjoyed engaging students in classrooms and assemblies across Nebraska. He involved them in discussions ranging from our U.S. Constitution, rights, responsibilities and critical issues students face in the 21st Century.

To expand upon this commitment in reaching and educating students, I am asking for your assistance in nominating students from your junior class for the 2017 Attorney General’s Youth Conference, which will be held at the Capitol on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Nominated students should be interested in the process of government and law.  Selected students will be invited to participate in discussion and debate of current issues, hear from AGO Bureaus Chiefs, tour the Capitol, and eat lunch at the Governor’s Residence.

You may nominate students by providing the attached application to students.  Additional applications may also be downloaded from our website at ago.nebraska.gov/youth-conferenceStudent applications are due by January 31, 2017. Selected students will be notified by February 28, 2017.

Students will need to be chaperoned by a parent/educator for purposes of transportation to and from Lincoln.  If space allows, some sessions will be open to the attending chaperone.  Due to limited space, chaperones will be responsible for their own lunch.

Again, thank you for your time and for your involvement in the nomination process.  If you have questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 402-471-9651 or via email at [email protected].
